Starter Options – (5-10 mins)

  • Flash up Big Questions and/or Common Themes and/or Quotes

  • Introduce video-clip, distribute question(s) if required


Contribute further questions, respond to quotes.

When does life begin?
I hate/like my body?

Is it ok to change my body?
Is the body everything or is there a separate soul?
Does religion say my body is sinful?
Can we do what we want with our bodies?

BQs and Common Themes:



Activities (10-20 mins)

  • Play video-clip eg Dove

  • Introduce ‘Hot Topic’ eg Plastic Surgery, Society's view of Women's bodies or Male physique

  • Discuss different faith perspectives on bodies

In Group (or plenary):

  • explore responses to video

  • each group discusses 1 or 2 questions: one presents response

  • Invite student responses

  • Introduce discussion on

student views of the Body

  • Report back – how did video make you feel?

  • What moral questions does it raise?
