A New years Message - a question?

Well, I've been very luckily to again visit Malaysia this year again, to run some young people retreats and so my New year will be here. I'm starting to slow down from a busy year and reflect on 2010 and the now. What I saw a lot of travelling around the colleges, meeting students and teachers was dealing with the uncertainty and fear, something that in the Buddhist way of seeing things, you get to meet a lot and hopefully make friends with.

For us Christians, this is still Advent. Single-handedly, I am fighting the Campaign for the Real Advent by refusing to listen to carols, buy presents, put up decorations and all the other Christmassy stuff until at least the 24th December. Advent Reflection (1): The Perfect Day

Tags Associated with article
Thursday 2nd December 2010. In the wee hours just after midnight whilst most of our country was asleep, the England cricket team had The Perfect Day. Simon Barnes of The Times described it: one of those oh-so-rare days where everything goes right for you, where everything you touch turns to gold. In the first over of play, at the non-striker's end, and on a perfect batting wicket with Australia predicted to cash in with a hatful of runs, opening Aussie batsman Simon Katich hesitated. England fielder Jonathan Trott picked up the ball and threw it at the stumps.

This is a very honest and direct talk about the situtaion faced in inner cities in the United Kingdom by some children.
